THE CARLTON playing group will this week auction off their own items to raise money for the Good Friday Appeal (GFA).
Embracing the privilege of playing in such a significant day on the calendar, the Blues’ players have jumped all-in to support such a worthwhile cause off the field, as well as on it.
A total of 17 pieces are currently available to bid on, with all funds raised going towards supporting the Good Friday Appeal.
The auction site is now live and open for the public to bid on, with items ranging from Sam Walsh, Patrick Cripps and Jack Silvagni 2023 signed player-issued home guernseys to Harry McKay's signed boots, with hand-painted Indigenous artwork.
The auction will close on Sunday 31 March.
The second year of the Carlton-North Melbourne Good Friday Super Clash sees football take a backseat and the true hero's shine.
Several members of the playing group spent last Thursday visiting patients and staff at the Royal Children’s Hospital, with others doing the same today – joined by their North Melbourne counterparts.
Among them is Carlton defender Mitch McGovern, who thought of the idea of the player auction, which was warmly received by his teammates.
McGovern said the playing group wanted to find a way to give back to the true heroes of the Good Friday Appeal.

“We wanted to show our gratitude and appreciation in a way that would raise both awareness and funds for the Good Friday Appeal, that's where the idea stemmed from,” McGovern explained.
“The boys have jumped at the idea, which is really pleasing, and we hope we can raise as much money as possible to help the Royal Children’s Hospital, which is a truly remarkable place.
“Each time we get the privilege of visiting the Royal Children’s Hospital, we are taken aback by the smiles across the kids' faces, their strength and resilience is so inspiring.

“Now having my own two kids, Margot and Hamish, it really hits home knowing that some parents have not yet had the chance to take their kids home from hospital yet. We want to do whatever we can this week to help those families and the many others at the RCH.
“We are also blown away by the incredible work each of the staff do, to treat each child with such care, we want to play a small part in giving back to them as well.
“I want to encourage everyone who has the means to, to please jump on and bid for each of the items, it's a special opportunity to get a piece of Carlton history whilst also donating to an amazing cause.
