DETERMINATION, hard work and a deep desire to succeed are attributes Liam Jones should be proud of as he approaches a milestone game this weekend.

If selected to play against West Coast at the MCG on Saturday, Jones will run out for his 100th AFL game.

The 27-year-old, who was recruited by the Western Bulldogs in the second round of the 2008 AFL draft, made the move to Carlton at the end of the 2014 season after 66 games with the Doggies.

Jones made his Carlton debut the following year, running out in navy blue against Richmond at the MCG in the Round 1 season opener.

After a well-publicised move from the forward line to the backline in 2017, Jones’ consistent performances for the Northern Blues in the VFL earned him a spot in the senior side for the rest of the season.

Called up for Carlton’s Round 12 match against GWS following Sam Rowe’s season-ending ACL injury, Jones played a pivotal role in the Blues’ thrilling one-point win over the Giants – limiting his head-to-head opponent Jonathon Patton to two goals.

His successful transition into the Blues’ defensive unit was a shining light for the Club in 2017, and on the eve of his 100th game, there’s no doubt he’ll be looking to make an impact when he next takes to the field.
