Carlton has sent a strong message to its playing group ahead of tomorrow night's clash with Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium.
Chris Yarran has been omitted, after he was criticised for poor body language when he was designated the substitute for last week's game.
The 22-year-old apologised to the team and has worked hard on the training track this week.
But Carlton's General Manager of Football Andrew McKay says the Blues set high standards, and Yarran's attitude fell short of what is expected.
"Chris has worked harder than anyone at training this week, but we demand a level of excellence and he didn't meet that last Friday night."
"We know Chris will be better for this, the Club will be better for this, and we know Chris will make amends when he gets his opportunity."
Meanwhile Andrew Carrazzo is set to return from a month on the sidelines.
He hasn't played since round 5, after suffering complications with an injured calf.
McKay says it's great to have the vice captain back.
"Andrew has worked really hard on on his rehab and has done everything we have asked of him at training this week. We've certainly missed his experience and leadership on the field."
Josh Bootsma joins Carrazzo coming into the side, while Simon White has also been omitted.
