NORTHERN Blues coach Josh Fraser rates the performances of every Carlton-listed player who featured in the 43-point loss to Williamstown on Saturday:

Tom De Koning
Stats: 3 disposals
From the coach: Tom competed well in the air at different times, but wasn’t able to produce often enough when going inside 50. He’s continuing to learn to fight through opposition defenders as a young player, and we’ll keep challenging him to back himself with his marking.

Jesse Glass-McCasker
Stats: 7 disposals
From the coach: To Jesse’s credit, he stuck to his task all day in difficult conditions. Particularly in the last quarter, we thought he was someone who competed well and played a hand in getting us re-entries inside 50. 

Matthew Kennedy
Stats: 31 disposals, 9 clearances, 6 tackles, 1 goal
From the coach: He worked hard around the contest, found enough of the footy in contested situations and kicked a really nice goal late in the game. He’ll continue working hard on aspects of his game, but it was a step forward with his footy and consistency.

Patrick Kerr
Stats: 6 disposals, 3 tackles
From the coach: It was a difficult day for forwards, but he continued to lead and present the way we need him to. We’ll challenge him to keep fighting through defenders as well and players dropping in front of him. His footy this year has been a big improvement so he should still be confident about his form.

Matthew Lobbe
Stats: 6 disposals, 17 hitouts
From the coach: In the ruck, he had a solid battle with Nick Meese and held his own, while he followed up well at different stages. He continues to keep working hard on running patterns and we’ll keep giving him exposure in front half.

Andrew Phillips
Stats: 8 disposals, 7 tackles, 23 hitouts, 1 goal
From the coach: He had some good moments in the game. His centre-bounce ruck work was good, and when he followed up he was effective at ground level. He took a fantastic contested mark and kicked a goal from it, while he spoiled well around the ground.

Cameron Polson
Stats: 14 disposals, 5 clearances, 5 tackles
From the coach: His pressure and intensity around the ball was really good. We’re working hard on his running patterns away from the footy, which has become a growth area in his game. We want him to keep playing with the speed and urgency he’s shown in the last fortnight.

Angus Schumacher
Stats: 17 disposals, 5 marks, 5 rebound 50s
From the coach: Defensively he was really good in parts: he has grown that part of his game of knowing when to defend and attack. We’re continuing to challenge him in staying engaged on re-entries inside 50, which is part of the learning process as a young defender. 

Jack Silvagni
Stats: 20 disposals, 8 clearances, 6 tackles, 3 goals
From the coach: Jack did a lot of work as an inside midfielder, and won a fair chunk of contested ball (14 contested possessions) in difficult conditions and against an experienced midfield. He also used the ball well and finished off effectively in front of goal to finish with three majors. 

Jacob Weitering
Stats: 22 disposals, 9 rebound 50s, 5 marks
From the coach: ‘Weiters’ was solid in one-on-one contests, and had some good intercept marks, while he used his voice to good effect and organised our defenders behind the ball. He battled on pretty well as one of our defensive group.
