THE Blues will be out to make it two in a row when they travel down the highway to take on the Cats this Saturday at GMHBA Stadium.

Buoyed by last week’s victory over the GWS Giants, Carlton will be looking to further cement its position at the top of the Conference B.

Two changes have been made to the Round 3 winning team, with Rhiannon Watt returning to the line-up as well as historic debutant Abbie McKay.

THE GAME IN FOCUS:

While Geelong is in its first season in the AFLW competition, the two sides are not unfamiliar foes, having met a few weeks ago in a pre-season practice match.

The two teams put on a brilliant attacking display, with plenty of smooth ball movement and intense play around the contest.

This time around, however, the Blues will go in as the favourites, having seemed to settle into a consistent game-plan under the watchful eye of coach Daniel Harford.

The Blues will need to be weary of a Cats team eager to snap their two-game losing streak with a big win in front of their home crowd in Geelong.

THE DIFFERENCE:

Tayla Harris’ strong marking ability and general presence in the forward line last week proved to be too much for the Giants’ defenders. In her most complete performance of the season, Harris finished with three goals, eight kicks and six marks.

It should come as no surprise that young star Maddy Prespakis will be the other difference-maker against the Cats. The 18-year old had another standout game against the Giants, registering 21 disposals, three goals and four marks.

Chloe Dalton and Brooke Walker are also two players to watch out for, having excelled since joining the Blues at the beginning of the season.

BLUE FOCUS:

Carlton fans will be looking forward to seeing Abbie McKay on Saturday afternoon, as she becomes the competition’s first-ever father-daughter selection to debut.

McKay will run out in the famous No.5, worn by her father Andrew during his 244-game career with the Blues. While there will be no pressure on the 18-year old, it will still be an exciting moment for all fans.

BLUE VIEW:

Geelong will come out fighting looking for a big win in front of their home crowd.

However, it’s a simple equation for the Blues on the road. Dominate the clearance, dominate the game.

If Alison Downie is able to continue her ruck form from the last few weeks, the Blues’ midfielders will be in a good position to drive the ball forward and feed it to the in-form Harris and Darcy Vescio.
