GAB Pound has inked a new deal, meaning Blues fans will be able to watch the fan favourite in Navy Blue long sleeves and signature headband until at least the end of 2026.
Missing only one round this season, Pound is a powerhouse down back who featured in Carlton’s best multiple times across the season.
Collecting 22 disposals, eight contested possessions and laying five tackles in Round 2 against North Melbourne – her first game of the season - was an example of the stability Pound can produce down back for the Blues.
A Bluebagger through and through, Pound has been at the Club since the very inception of the AFLW competition, featuring in Carlton's maiden Grand Final appearance in 2019.
One of Carlton’s most experienced players, having played 62 games for the Blues, Pound is a vital member of the side and has become a natural leader in the backline.
Head of AFLW Ash Naulty said Pound signing on with the Club was another sign of stability for the program.
“It is great to have Gab commit to the future of our Club, and we are excited to have her sign on for the next few years. The determination she has shown each game this season is a display of her hard work and discipline,” Naulty said.
“We always mention that we want to play brave, and Gab demonstrates that for us down in defence. She plays a crucial role for us on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball and she is the kind of player that makes her teammates walk taller.
“For Gab to sign a multi-year deal is a real testament to the culture the Club has been building and evolving.”
