THREE in line for All-Australian honours.
Carlton has had a trio of players named in the All-Australian squad, with the final team to be announced on Wednesday night.
In the squad of 44, three Blues have been acknowledged for their brilliant 2023 seasons which have helped spearhead the team to a first finals berth in a decade.
On the back of a second consecutive Coleman Medal, Charlie Curnow looks a near-certainty to reclaim his spot at full forward in the All-Australian side after his maiden selection in 2022.
Recording a career-high 78 goals for the season, Curnow wrapped up the leading goalkicker award in the final game of the season, recording hauls of 10, nine, six (twice) and five (twice) over the course of the campaign.
He also ranked No.1 for contested marks over the course of the season as well as No.2 for score involvements, emerging as one of the most important players of the competition in Carlton’s surge to September.
Looking for the fourth All-Australian blazer of his career, Carlton captain Patrick Cripps has also been named in the extended squad.
The reigning Brownlow Medallist has led from the front for the Blues in 2023, once again placing in the top 10 for clearances and contested possessions in the competition.
A fourth All-Australian honour would see Cripps tie with Chris Judd and Andrew McKay in third position for Blues making the final side.
Jacob Weitering will be hoping it’s a case of fourth-time lucky, once again named in the All-Australian squad after nominations in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
The star defender has been in outstanding form, particularly over the second half of the season, shutting down his direct opponent while intercepting at will on Carlton’s last line.
