GEORGE Hewett has been awarded nine AFLCA votes for his contested dominance in the Blues’ win over the Demons.
Along with 23 contested possessions, the midfielder gathered 33 disposals (an equal-game high), eight clearances and six tackles in a best-on-ground performance at the MCG.
Following with another strong game in the middle was captain Patrick Cripps, who received seven votes for a combative performance in the middle of the ground.
Cripps gathered 29 disposals, nine tackles and seven score involvements, with the skipper continuing his run of polling coaches' votes in each of his last seven games.
Nic Newman also polled seven votes, continuing his career-best season as the highest-ranked player on the ground for the second week in a row.
Along with an equal-game-high 33 disposals, Newman delivered 11 intercept possessions and a game-high 521 metres gained, defending on the front foot to cut the ball off at the source while also using his disposal by foot to cut open the opposition.
Rounding out the votes is fellow defender Jacob Weitering, who made another strong case for a maiden All-Australian selection.
The star defender had nine intercepts, eight marks and four rebound 50s on the last line, playing a central role in Carlton holding Melbourne to just eight goals for the night.
