SAM Philp will play his first game in over a year today for the Carlton Reserves.

The Blues’ youngster was sidelined in the pre-season following a foot injury, but on the back of a progressive return to training in recent months, the determined Philp will return to action today.

The 22-year-old, who played a pair of senior games in his debut 2020 season, will likely play a mid-forward role for the VFL Blues when they take on the Casey Demons.

Also returning to action is Jordan Boyd, with the defender to slot into his customary half-back position after missing the last three games due to suspension.

Despite being activated as sub in the last quarter on Saturday night, Ed Curnow will play for the VFL Blues today, providing some vital experience against a typically tough Casey outfit.

Also back in the fold is captain Ben Crocker, who’ll be central to the Blues’ ability to produce a winning score after missing against Collingwood a fortnight ago.

Corey Durdin won't feature for the VFL Blues as he continues to manage his return from a shoulder injury.

The Round 21 VFL clash kicks off from midday and will be broadcast live on Channel 7, 7plus and AFL.com.au.
