Mick Malthouse says that whilst there are no excuses regarding last weeks loss to Collingwood, the past month had been a tough one for the Blues.

"We've put enormous efforts in (the past month) and have not had a victory. I think subconsciously that has a draining effect. We lost a player and for one reason or another, players tended to go back into their shell. Consequently we lost our way and allowed Collingwood back in the game to the point where they took the game over."

"However you can't dwell on the past. You can't change the past, you can only learn from it."

When questioned about the future of the playing group, Malthouse says that every player will be assessed.

"It's our job in a competitive and elite sport to maximise the list. Every player here will be analysed like I have done at every football club. And this simply means that scrutiny goes on players that have had both bad losses and good wins."

He did however reinforce that at least two players won't be going anywhere.

"I can categorically tell you that Gibbs and Kreuzer are untouchable."
