The Carlton Football Club wishes to advise that Ian Coutts has resigned as General Manager, Communications to pursue new opportunities and will finish with the Club on Friday, December 14th.
Carlton CEO Greg Swann said Ian had made a tremendous contribution to the Carlton Football Club during his 20 years of service.
“Ian is best known for his work representing Carlton with the media over the last 14 years. He was the first Media Manager of the Carlton Football Club and during his time he successfully developed the Communications Department and has managed emergence and growth of the website, social media and the communications strategy for the Club.”
Carlton President Stephen Kernahan also paid tribute to the role Coutts has played at Carlton since joining in late 1992.
“Ian commenced in the Marketing Department and then pioneered media relations and communications for Carlton. He is well respected by everyone at Carlton and within the industry, in particular by the media.
“I cannot speak highly enough of the role he has done here at Carlton and importantly about Ian as a person. He is honest and very supportive and always conducts himself in a professional manner while having the ability to bring a personal approach to his work,” Kernahan said.
Coutts joined Carlton in August 1992 as Marketing Services Manager and was appointed the Club’s first Media Manager in 1998. He evolved the media role into a strategic communications function for the Club, and went on to develop the website and social media platforms, all while building and enhancing the Clubs reputation in the media and broader community.
“Ian has formed many close relationships at the Carlton Football Club and in the AFL and we wish him and his family the very best for the future. He will always be very welcome at the Carlton Football Club,” Kernahan said.
