In season 2019, the Blues had 13 players bring up milestones across the Club’s 22 home-and-away games.
Let’s wind back the clock to those achievements.
Kade Simpson, 313 games
In his 17th season at the elite level and after only becoming the fifth Blue in history to play 300 games for the Club, Simpson moved into fourth on Carlton’s all-time games played list. Surpassing Stephen Silvagni, Simpson chalked up game No.313 in Round 6 against the Hawks. Signed on for 2020, Simpson currently sits on 325 career games — three shy of John Nicholls.
Marc Murphy, 250 games
Round 1 of any season is a big occasion: in 2019, however, the season opener was even bigger for Marc Murphy. With son Max in his arms, the Club’s former captain and two-time John Nicholls Medallist ran out for game No.250.
Dale Thomas, 250 AFL games and 100 Carlton games
In what was his last year in the Navy Blue, Thomas reached two significant milestones. Firstly, he brought up AFL game No.250 against the Western Bulldogs in Round 13, before playing his 100th game as a Blue in Round 22 at the MCG in the win over St Kilda.
Ed Curnow, 150 games
A heart-and-soul player of the Carlton Football Club renowned for his work ethic and love for the contest, Ed Curnow brought up his 150th game against North Melbourne in Round 7. On a disappointing day for the Blues, the feel-good moment came when Ed combined with brother Charlie for his first goal in the final term.
Patrick Cripps, 100 games
The man who wears his heart on his sleeve pulled on the Navy Blue jumper for the 100th time against the Saints in the Club’s final home game of the season. An ear infection couldn’t stop ‘Crippa’ from achieving the milestone in a typically resolute performance.
Matthew Lobbe, 100 AFL games
After making the move from Port Adelaide to Carlton in season 2018, the ruckman brought his 100th AFL match when the Blues took on the Suns in Round 4.
Liam Jones, 50 Carlton games
The rejuvenation of Liam Jones produced another chapter when he ran out for his 50th game at his second club in Round 4. It turned out to be a career-best season for the defender, who ranked elite for intercept marks and spoils.
Jack Silvagni, 50 games
Growing up living and breathing Carlton, Silvagni always had the dream to put on the Navy Blue guernsey and follow in the footsteps of his grandfather Sergio and his father Stephen. He would go onto play game No.50 in Round 11 against Essendon at the MCG.
Sam Petrevski-Seton, 50 games
The Halls Creek Cowboy was 4,295km from home when he pulled on the Navy Blue for his 50th AFL game. It was a big stage for ’Samo’, with his milestone coming against traditional rival Collingwood at the home of football.
Zac Fisher, 50 games
The speedy left footer from WA played his 50th game for the Blues against Sydney at the SCG in Round 17 in the Club’s first win at the venue in eight years. The ‘Slippery Fish’ marked the occasion with a crafty goal at the start of the second term.

Charlie Curnow, 50 games
The dynamic forward had an injury-interrupted year in 2019, but he brought up game No.50 against Gold Coast in Round 4. If the first half-century of games are anything to go by, it’s going to be a very exciting career for Curnow at Carlton.
Nic Newman, 50 AFL games
Newman arrived at the Blues during last season’s trade period and he found a home across half back very quickly with his damaging left foot. He brought up his 50th AFL game alongside Cripps and Thomas in Round 22.
Mitch McGovern, 50 AFL games
The former Crow landed at Ikon Park at the end of 2018, making his club debut in Round 1. He didn’t have to wait long for his 50th career game, which came back in Adelaide against the Power in Round 2.
