ONTO the next. 

Carlton has announced the team that will take on the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night at Marvel Stadium, 7:30pm (AEST). 

For the first time this season, Matthew Cottrell will line up for the Blues’ 22, after returning from injury through the VFL last weekend. 

Playing 18-senior games in 2022, Cottrell sustained a foot injury in pre-season that saw him miss the beginning of the season.

However, the fast-paced winger will be raring to go alongside Ollie Hollands and Blake Acres in Round 9 after 19 disposals, four tackles and two goals in the twos. 

Matt Owies also returns from injury this week, following a three-goal outing for Carlton Reserves last Saturday in torrential rain. 

Having kicked six goals in his three games this season, Owies’ effort and pressure in the forward 50 will be a welcome addition to the side. 

Matt Kennedy has also been elevated to the 22, having been the activated sub for the last two rounds. 

Kennedy’s last-quarter performance against Brisbane was inspiring, with the midfield bull totalling 13 disposals, three clearances and a goal in an effort to get his team over the line. 

Ed Curnow, Josh Honey and Brodie Kemp have been omitted from this week's team. 

Lochie O'Brien and Jack Martin both trained fully this week whilst Caleb Marchbank returned to full training and will be a test for the following game. 

Tom De Koning is set to miss another match with concussion.
