MATTHEW Owies will play his first game in over a month when Carlton takes on Brisbane in Round 7 VFL action today.
After sustaining a hamstring injury in Round 3 of the AFL campaign, Owies returns for the Carlton Reserves as one of five additions to the side.
He is joined by Jack Carroll (managed), Lachie Cowan and Lachie Fogarty (AFL travelling emergencies) who didn’t feature at either level last week, while Zac Fisher will also play at VFL level.
Tom De Koning (concussion) will miss, while Lochie O’Brien is unavailable due to a rolled ankle. Hudson O’Keeffe has been managed, while Patrick Dozzi and Lachie Swaney make way.
Matthew Cottrell will continue his return from injury with his second straight game, as Ned Cahill, captain Ben Crocker and Ben Ronke once again lead the line from a VFL-listed standpoint.
Following three weeks of results which went down to the wire (two wins, one draw), the VFL Blues will be looking to judge ahead of the ledger in search of their fourth VFL win.
Young prospect Harley Reid will play his second game for the Blues as 23rd player.
The game will be live-streamed on the AFL website from 11:05am and is part of a double header, with the VFLW Blues to follow from 2pm.
