THREE of Carlton’s VFLW-listed players – as well as a future father-daughter prospect – have been selected to take part in the upcoming 2018 NAB AFL Women’s Draft Combine.
Young guns Tyla Hanks, Madeline Brancatisano and Rene Caris have been invited to participate in the combine at Etihad Stadium, held on Tuesday 2 October and Wednesday 3 October.
In addition, Abbie McKay, the daughter of Carlton premiership player and Head of Football Andrew McKay, has also been selected to take part.
In total, 36 players from across the country will travel to Melbourne and put their skills, agility and endurance to the test.
AFL Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said players had been nominated from every state and territory.
“After the high standard of matches at the recent NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships on the Gold Coast, the best 36 under-age players from the from throughout Australia will be in Melbourne to test,” she said.
“The Draft Combine is particularly important for the Victorian-based clubs. With the two expansion clubs, Geelong and North, entering the competition in 2019, there are now six clubs vying for Victorian-based talent.”
