THE CARLTON Football Club is delighted to announce Dylan Alcott AO as its new No.1 ticket holder.

The 2022 Australian of the Year will be officially bestowed the honour at the President’s Club function ahead of tonight’s blockbuster against Geelong.

As well as being a lifelong Bluebagger, the sporting champion and media personality is an exemplary leader in the community.

Alcott’s sporting resume sits amongst the greats.

A 15-time Grand Slam tennis champion, Alcott is also a three-time Paralympic gold medallist across both tennis (twice) and basketball.

In 2021 he became the first male tennis player in history to win the Golden Slam – claiming all four Grand Slams and Paralympic gold in the same calendar year.

He established the Dylan Alcott foundation in 2017, which is committed to helping young Australians with disabilities overcome the barriers of entry to sport and education by providing fundraising grants, scholarships and mentoring.

Alcott recalls coming to games as a four-year-old and could not be prouder to be associated with the Club during this next, exciting phase.

“To be named the No.1 ticket holder, I can’t believe it,” Alcott said.

“It means a lot to me, it’s not lost on me as a person in a wheelchair, I thought I’d have no involvement at a football club, ever.

“To be the No.1 ticket holder is pretty incredible. I get a bit emotional thinking about how much it means to me.

“To have this bestowed on me, I am really honoured, I really am.”

Carlton President Luke Sayers said the Club was proud to have such a deserving representative of the Navy Blue faithful.

“The No.1 ticket holder of the Carlton Football Club is a position that has great history at this football club, and we could not think of a better Bluebagger to continue that honour than Dylan,” Sayers said.

“He loves this club and rides the wave of emotion with unmatched passion – all things that every Carlton member and supporter can relate to.

“To top it off, Dylan is a quality person who is a leader in the community. We are proud to have him as the No.1 ticket holder of this football club and we look forward to seeing him represent the Blues proudly in years to come.

“Thank you also goes to Josh Frydenberg, for fulfilling the role these last two years and for his continuous support as a passionate Carlton member.”
