DYNAMIC midfielder Will Setterfield will be vying for selection ahead of this weekend’s clash with the old enemy.
The off-season recruit made his return from suspension in the Northern Blues’ 37-point victory over North Melbourne at Ikon Park.
Northern Blues senior coach Josh Fraser reviewed Setterfield’s VFL performance ahead of this week’s senior selection, saying he was impressed with his work in the contest.
“‘Setters’ had some AFL exposure early in the season: his mindset to come back and perform and be part of a successful team on the day was really important,” Fraser said on Carlton Coaches’ Corner.
It was a solid return to action for the No.43 - and the numbers back it up!

“We saw his contested ball work and clearance work around stoppages, but also his ability to put pressure on in general play.”
The young midfielder played a key role in the Northern Blues’ triumphant victory, collecting 24 disposals and six clearances against North Melbourne’s VFL side.
He combined his ability to win the ball with applying pressure around the ground, finishing with seven tackles.
“His ability to take first possession but also hunt and follow-up the ball at ground level was a real strength on the day,” Fraser said of the performance.

See what VFL senior coach Josh Fraser had to say.#BoundByBlue
“He certainly had really clean hands in congestion and his ability to win the ball and get it to someone on the outside helped set the game up for us.”
Setterfield was handed a two-week suspension for rough conduct following the Blues’ Round 4 clash with Gold Coast.
Having served the ban, Setterfield missed out on senior selection against the Kangaroos – instead returning through the VFL.
“He missed two weeks through suspension, but his form in the AFL has showed plenty and he certainly showed what he is capable of at the level,” he said.
“The decisions was to get some game time into his legs after missing the last two weeks.”
