CARLTON is pleased to announce Alex Cincotta has signed with the Club on the final day of the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP).
Finishing on the podium in the Carlton Reserves best-and-fairest count last year, the versatile speedster has taken his chance, impressing over summer to secure a spot on Carlton’s list.
A dynamic defender, Cincotta had an exciting 2022, finishing off his first full campaign with Carlton Reserves by averaging 21 disposals across the season.
He was a picture of consistency, playing a leading hand in an emerging young group that earned its maiden VFL finals appearance.
The 26-year-old joins ruckman Alex Mirkov as two players who have progressed from the Carlton Reserves onto the current AFL list.
Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said Cincotta’s call-up was a fitting reward for his dedication.
“After a superb season in the reserves last year, we are delighted to elevate Alex onto the AFL list,” Austin said.
“Alex will work closely with our defensive group, building on his craft and developing his skills even further.
“He’s a mature-age player, who already understands our system and has played with a lot of our group, so we’re excited for Alex and pleased we’ve been able to provide him with an opportunity.”
Carlton’s first hitout of the pre-season will be against Collingwood on Friday 24 February at 11am, with the VFL kicking off at 2pm. Both matches will be held at IKON Park.
