Blues support Starlight
On-line auction of signed football jumpers to raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation
The auction commences prior to last Friday’s clash between the Blues and the Cats, and Mr Hulls visited the Starlight Express Room at the Royal Children’s Hospital to launch the auction of the signed guernseys.
“The Starlight Children’s Foundation does tremendous work helping to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families through a range of innovative programs delivered both in and out of hospital,” Mr Hulls said.
“Since 1988, Starlight has been providing positive distraction to sick children and their siblings who need some fun and diversion from the stress of their illness and treatment.
“Organisations like Starlight are so important in making a significant difference in our community.
“Starlight currently reaches one third of the 600,000 children admitted to hospitals each year.
“This auction will help Starlight give more of these children the opportunity to access and benefit from Starlight’s innovative programs.”
Mr Hulls thanked the Carlton and Geelong football clubs which have both provided jumpers signed by their players to be auctioned.
“These clubs have once again shown their community spirit by kindly donating these signed jumpers to be auctioned on-line to footy fans,” he said.
“The clubs are also arranging for the auction to take place on-line via their clubs’ websites.
“This generosity is testament to the clubs’ commitment to helping those in need and recognising the important role they play in society.
“I urge Cats’ and Blues’ fans to get behind this auction for the chance to own a jumper signed by their heroes and to raise money for kids in need at the same time.
“This is a terrific initiative and I thank all those involved.”
