IT’S the time for giving. Particularly, giving back.

And earlier this week, Carlton players Brooke Walker and Caleb Marchbank did exactly that while on their respective off-season Christmas breaks.

The defensive duo linked up with What Ability, an NDIS support service that specialises in community access.

The day included a quick visit to IKON Park along with some laser tag and a trip to TimeZone at Highpoint.

For Walker, who rarely walks through IKON Park without a smile on her face, her involvement with What Ability is based on their simple premise: support workers integrating people with disabilities into the community through fun.

“The attributes it takes to be a successful athlete are in line with the responsibilities of a support worker,” the What Ability website reads.

“They know the meaning and understand the responsibility of showing up every day for something greater than themselves. Like their team uniform, our athletes show up ready to provide support and put happiness first.

“Our athletes are essential in promoting awareness of the role and career of a support worker at the same time as directly helping us build an inclusive Australia.”
