The Carlton Football Club has selected forward Andrew Collins and midfielder Jaryd Cachia as rookies in today’s 2012 AFL Rookie Draft.
Andrew has spent the past two years on Carlton’s Senior list after being traded to the Blues from Richmond at the end of 2010.
Carlton National Recruiting Manager, Shane Rogers said Andrew was a versatile and hardworking forward.
“After an injury interrupted first season at Carlton, Andrew showed some really promising signs in 2012 playing 9 senior games,” he said.
“He has elite endurance and great foot-skills and we are looking forward to seeing his growth with a solid pre-season under his belt.”
Jaryd Cachia was first recruited to Carlton in the 2010 AFL Rookie Draft, from the Northern Knights and spent two years on the Rookie List developing his game with the Northern Bullants.
He was released by the Club to pursue greater opportunities with Norwood, in the SANFL and went on to play a pivotal role in the Redlegs 2012 Premiership season.
He also finished off the year polling in the top five in the SANFL Magarey Medal.
Shane described Jaryd as a tough inside midfielder with great hands and an outstanding work ethic.
“Everyone is excited to have him back at Carlton.”
