Blues switch footies for tennis racquets
Carlton midfielders Bryce Gibbs and David Ellard will hit the tennis court this weekend.
'Battle of the Codes' will see the Blues partnership take on former Wallabies skipper and current Melbourne Rebels Captain Stirling Mortlock as well as former Australian Test Cricketer Damien Fleming and No.2 WNBA draft pick, Australian Opal Liz Cambage for the Tennis Australia initiative, being held at Melbourne Park.
The action will commence at 1pm, with athletes from 16 different clubs swapping their footballs, bats, basketballs or netballs for a tennis racquet as part of a free showcase for sporting fans across Melbourne.

Carlton will be joined by other AFL teams, including Collingwood, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Geelong, Hawthorn, North Melbourne, Richmond and St Kilda along with players from the Melbourne Storm (Rugby League), Melbourne Rebels (Rugby Union) Melbourne Vixens (Netball) and Melbourne Renegades (Cricket).
Entry to Battle of the Codes is free. Bryce and Dave are looking forward to seeing plenty of Carlton supporters at Melbourne Park on Saturday to support the Blues as they attempt to be crowned the inaugural tennis championship team.
Battle of the Codes runs during December Showdown, a showcase of tennis at all levels, including the high profile Australian Open Play-off, which gives emerging Australian talent the chance to earn a coveted wildcard into the Australian Open in January.
The December Showdown is the curtain-raiser to the summer of tennis and features more than 2500 matches during the three-week carnival.
