Everyone looks better in navy blue, especially Carlton’s newest recruit Dale Thomas.
The 26-year-old will don the iconic Carlton guernsey after signing a four year deal, under the AFL’s free agency rules.
Thomas, who is currently on holiday, has told carltonfc.com.au that he’s looking forward to making his home at Visy Park.
“I’m really excited to be coming to Carlton,” Thomas said. “It’s a terrific Club with a team on the improve.
“It has been a tough couple of years for me and it felt like the right time to move on.
“I’m grateful Carlton has given me the opportunity. I’m excited about joining players like Marc Murphy and Chris Judd, and of course the chance to work with Mick again.
“It will be a new challenge and one I’m looking forward to.”
The former Collingwood midfielder has enjoyed a decorated career, which includes 157 AFL games, a premiership, and All-Australian selection in 2011.
He was the No.2 pick in the 2005 National Draft, behind Carlton Captain Marc Murphy.
Carlton GM – Football Operations Andrew McKay says Thomas will add some speed and experience to Carlton’s line-up.
“We’re really pleased that Dale has decided to come to Carlton,” McKay said.
“Dale has shown himself to be an elite player with plenty of endurance and a proven ability to perform on the big stage.
“His inclusion in our team will give us some added depth.”
Carlton coach Mick Malthouse says “Daisy” will give the Blues some added versatility.
"Dale is quick, hard at it, has a real presence about him, and will give us a real variety in positional play," Matlhouse said.
"He's been successful in being part of a premiership side, part of many finals campaigns, and he brings to us a personality that will blend in very well with our current group."
Stay tuned to the Carlton website, we will be rolling out the blue carpet and announcing details of Daisy’s arrival in the coming days!
