TAYLOR Ortlepp will make her AFLW debut on Saturday.
Announced to the playing group by AFLW Senior Coach Daniel Harford on Thursday evening, Ortlepp will become the Game Changers’ eighth Carlton debutant of the season when she runs out against GWS on Saturday.
“What we’ve seen from Tay, all the way through this whole campaign since her introduction to the Carlton Football Club, is that she’s given everything she can and she really presses hard to be the best she can,” Harford said when announcing the news to the playing group last night.
“You’ve done everything possible and we’re finally there for you – you get the chance to pull on the jumper.”
Ortlepp joined the Game Changers ahead of season seven, with an extensive basketball background.
She represented Australia in the U16 Oceania Championships in 2013 and the U17 World Championships in 2014 before signing with the Adelaide Lightning in 2015.
The 24-year-old then headed to the United States to play for Boston College before returning home for a second season with the Lightning in 2020.
Building her strength and skills over the pre-season, Ortlepp will showcase her development when the Blues face the Giants on Saturday at Henson Park.
