An interested spectator in the winner’s circle at the MCG on Saturday afternoon was the former Carlton ruckman/forward Andrew Cavedon, pictured with his son Kobe.

“I have been getting along to a few Carlton games, but this is the first time I’ve brought my little boy,” Cavedon said enthusiastically. “He plays a bit of soccer, but he’s definitely a Carlton man.”

Cavedon, who wore the No.40 guernsey into 23 Carlton senior games from 1991 to 1994, was thrilled to have witnessed his old team’s shellacking of Essendon.

“The boys committed themselves so well today. It’s been a tough year, but now there’s that little bit of hope - and I wish them all the best,” he said.
