KEELEY Skepper will make her AFLW debut on Sunday.
Announced to the playing group by AFLW Senior Coach Daniel Harford on Thursday evening, Skepper will become the Game Changers’ fourth debutant of the season when she runs out against Essendon on Sunday.
“It’s a great opportunity,” Harford said when announcing the news to the playing group last night.
“Mia [Austin] had the chance last week, you watched it all unfold and the best part from my perspective is that you took notes, you watched what happened and you thought about what was happening in the game and what role you could play when you got your opportunity.
"It has come to you now."
Selected with Carlton’s first pick (No.17) in the 2022 NAB AFL Women’s Draft, Skepper achieved a lifelong dream when she was welcomed to IKON Park.
Hailing from Wodonga, the ball-winning midfielder developed into a powerful prospect over the past couple of seasons which saw her take out Vic Country’s Most Valuable Player award at the national championships.
Skepper’s leadership credentials were on full display at the Murray Bushrangers, averaging over 24 disposals, four tackles and four inside 50s across her nine NAB League games.
Impressing on the track over pre-season, Skepper will showcase her ability at the elite level when Carlton faces Essendon on Sunday at ETU Stadium.
