Northern Blues coach Josh Fraser rates the performances of every Carlton-listed player from the VFL win over Collingwood:
49. Dennis Armfield
Stats: 14 disposals, 4 loose-ball gets, 3 handball receives
From the coach: He split his game time between wing and forward again: he applied good pressure and continues to lead the way. We’d like to see him become more damaging at VFL level by hitting the scoreboard which we know he’s working hard on.
62. Blaine Boekhorst
Stats: 29 disposals, 8 marks, 11 handball receives
From the coach: Blaine is continuing to build consistency - he ran really hard with good patterns as a winger. He had plenty of game involvements between contests and is still working hard on detail around stoppages and contest.
7. Dylan Buckley
Stats: 14 disposals, 5 inside 50s, 3 rebound 50s, 7 handball receives
From the coach: I thought he defended Collingwood’s high forwards really well at times. There’s been a good shift in his defensive actions. He needs to keep assessing options with the ball, but he’s becoming a more reliable defender for us.

60. David Cuningham
Stats: 24 disposals, 6 inside 50s, 5 clearances, 8 handball receives, 1 goal
From the coach: I liked Dave's game. He showed some really exciting passages of play through the middle. He kicked a terrific long-range goal, and he’s working hard on ability to use his legs and running capacity on both sides of the game (offensively and defensively).

56. Andrew Gallucci
Stats: 9 disposals, 6 tackles, 1 goal
From the coach: He had some important moments, where he applied terrific pressure for us. He probably didn’t get reward for effort in terms of getting the ball, but we know he works really hard in getting up and down the ground.
50. Daniel Gorringe
Stats: 14 disposals, 3 marks, 3 inside 50s, 1 goal
From the coach: His first game back after a fairly lengthy layoff, where he spent time as forward and also on a wing. He showed some signs of his running capacity building after some time out. We expect him to get better from here.
48. Kristian Jaksch
Stats: 20 disposals, 8 marks, 4 rebound 50s
From the coach: He played as defender, and continues to give us versatility. ‘KJ’ had some important contests and needs to keep building that as a defender, both in the air and on the ground. He won a lot of the ball and helped set up scoring opportunities.
14. Liam Jones
Stats: 15 disposals, 6 marks, 5 rebound 50s, 5 tackles
From the coach: Jonesy was very impressive as a defender, with his closing speed and brutality in the contest a feature. He is in a super vein of form and leading from the front with both his message and direction.

31. Patrick Kerr
Stats: 8 disposals, 3 inside 50s, 1 goal
From the coach: ‘Kerry’ keeps working hard as a lead-up forward, where he has shown growth in his ability to compete and apply pressure. He’s building nicely. The next step is to get more opportunities for him in front of goal because he’s a lovely kick and takes his opportunities.
80. Matthew Korcheck
Stats: 5 disposals, 3 marks, 13 hitouts, 1 goal
From the coach: He had some important moments. He gave our midfielders good service and got in good positions around the ground, while also taking a good mark in front of goal and converting. We want and expect him to keep heading on this track.
51. Jed Lamb
Stats: 13 disposals, 3 marks, 4 inside 50s
From the coach: It was Jed’s first one back as well, and we felt he worked into the game in the second half. Some of his contests were really important. He probably didn’t get enough of the ball as we would’ve liked but we’re really confident he’ll build form and will be better for the run.

19. Harry McKay
Stats: 10 disposals, 4 marks, 3 inside 50s, 1 goal
From the coach: He gave us glimpses of his raw talent, where he launched at the footy in the air. He probably should have finished with a few more goals. We’re excited about his progress.
34. Harrison Macreadie
Stats: 16 disposals, 5 marks, 4 rebound 50s, 3 rebound 50s
From the coach: I thought he was really good. He played our system well as a defender in his first VFL game. He positioned himself well at the right times to affect the ball coming inside 50, and he was composed in possession.

24. Rhys Palmer
Stats: 22 disposals, 6 marks, 5 tackles, 1 goal
From the coach: Rhys is an experienced player around stoppages and gave us a boost when we needed him. His ability to get forward, to finish off with a goal and also set up a few were encouraging. He needs to keep building consistency, but he had some important moments.

15. Andrew Phillips
Stats: 14 disposals, 6 marks, 24 hitouts
From the coach: He performed quite well, with his aerial stuff in the ruck and around the ground shining through. Both he and our other talls gave us a dangerous look.
42. Jarrod Pickett
Stats: 8 disposals, 5 tackles, 1 goal
From the coach: We saw some glimpses of his speed and his ability to apply relentless pressure, while when he had ball in hand at times he looked dangerous. We’re seeing some exciting signs and we’re giving him a look as both a small forward and in the middle: it’s about him giving more for longer.
67. Cameron Polson
Stats: 9 disposals, 3 inside 50s, 3 tackles
From the coach: He didn’t have the impact that he would’ve liked, but to his credit he worked his way into the game through his running in the second half. He created a few opportunities forward of centre, and his finish to the game should give him confidence heading into next week.
47. Ciaran Sheehan
Stats: 18 disposals, 5 marks, 6 rebound 50s
From the coach: ‘Gussy’ missed some footy in recent weeks after building some really strong form in the early part of the season. He was a bit off the pace early, but then got back to the type of footy he was dishing out earlier in the year. He gives us a calming influence and he’ll get better and better.
55. Liam Sumner
Stats: 9 disposals, 5 marks, 3 inside 50s, 3 rebound 50s
From the coach: Another guy who came back in that missed footy who again built into it in the second half. He showed some good speed and had a really good goal assist late in the game for Daniel Gorringe. Liam showed some signs and we expect him to build from here.
