THE Carlton Football Club has informed Jack Newnes, Oscar McDonald and Luke Parks that they will not be offered new contracts for next season.

Newnes departs the Blues after three seasons and 52 games since arriving at IKON Park at the end of 2019.

The 29-year-old reached his 200-game career milestone in Round 15 this season, collecting 20 disposals, eight marks and a goal in a win over Fremantle.

It was not the only highlight for Newnes against the Dockers in the Navy Blue guernsey, as the midfielder etched himself into Carlton folklore in Round 12, 2020, when his after-the-siren goal from 45 metres out on the boundary line secured a famous four-point win for Carlton at Optus Stadium.

McDonald played five games in his two seasons at IKON Park, with injury restricting him from more game time.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues via the supplementary selection period in 2021 after 81 games for the Demons.

Parks was selected in the 2021 NAB AFL Rookie Draft and played a total of eight games for the Club, including two appearances this season.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin thanked all three players for their contribution to the Club.

“Jack is a testament to what hard work can earn you in AFL football: to play 200 games to this point at the highest level is a terrific achievement that Jack and his family should be incredibly proud of," Austin said.

“Oscar is also a terrific character who brought a lot to our group. While he was unlucky with his injuries, the resilience he showed to continue to persevere and maintain a positive presence around the Club was impressive.

“Luke had his share of bad luck through injury this year, however his perseverance to come through state level to earn two years in the AFL system proves his strong work ethic.

“We thank Jack, Oscar and Luke for their service to the Carlton Football Club and wish them all the best moving forward.”
