Judd suspended
Chris Judd has been found guilty of intentional misconduct and has been suspended for four matches.
The suspension was delivered following a lengthy tribunal hearing at the AFL this evening.
The AFL Counsel argued the incident between Judd and North Melbourne's Leigh Adams during last Friday night's match was serious misconduct which should be regarded as unacceptable. In presenting the case, the AFL Counsel believed the appropriate sentence be determined by reference to a base sanction in the range of between 425 and 550 demerit points.
Leaving the hearing Judd was obviously disappointed with the ordeal and said he respected the process.
"I am disappointed but respect the process and the decision made by the tribunal. As I said to the tribunal, it was never my intention to hurt Leigh Adams," Judd told the waiting media.
"I have personally apologized to Leigh over the incident.
"I also want to apologize to the Carlton Football Club and all our supporters for letting the Club down," Judd added.
Andrew McKay, Carlton's General Manager of Football Operations, said that, like Chris, the Club respected the decision of the AFL tribunal in this matter.
"Chris Judd is an outstanding person and a fine leader of the Carlton Football Club. He has apologized personally for this incident.
"It is important that everyone understands while this is disappointing Chris in no way intended to harm Leigh Adams," McKay said.
