On Sunday 21 May the Carlton Football Club will be home to the ‘Dads of Port Melbourne’ and the ‘Dads of Brighton’ when the two sides battle it out at the 2017 Dad’s Footy Carnival Exhibition Game.
Since it first began in 2012, the Dad’s Football competition has brought communities together to support under-funded and over-crowded local primary schools.
In the lead-up to the 2017 Dad’s Footy Carnival, the Exhibition Game will raise funds for the Carlton Junior Football Club, a multicultural Auskick and junior football club supporting underprivileged kids across the suburbs of Carlton and Fitzroy.
Held at Ikon Park, the match will kick off at 2:30pm and will showcase fathers from a total of four primary schools within Central and Eastern Bayside.
Entry into the match will be via a gold coin donation, with a BBQ and a range of refreshments on offer.
Founder of Dad’s Footy Paul Spottiswood said the match would be sure to entertain the whole family as the dads attempted to impress on the Blues’ home turf.
“The Exhibition Game promises to be a day of fierce rivalry between dads whose beliefs of their previous skill levels far exceed their current capabilities,” Spottiswood said.
“Dad’s Footy is there to support kids and their education and also promotes men’s health in a time when work and family commitments make it difficult for many men to stay physically, mentally and emotionally fit.”
