It’s arguably the most famous guernsey number at Carlton . . . and now it’s the most worn.

No. 1 - the number donned with distinction by the likes of Horrie Clover, Frank Anderson, Ken Hands, the Silvagnis Sergio and Stephen, and now the club’s latest 100-gamer Andrew Walker - has been worn for no fewer than 1329 senior Carlton matches, surpassing the 1327 games for the No.21 made famous by Frank and Barry Gill, Ken Baxter, Rod Austin and the Blues’ games record holder, Craig Bradley.

At three is the No.12 worn by Creswell Crisp, Doug Williams, Barry Armstrong, current board member Adrian Gleeson and assistant coach Matthew Lappin (1324); at four is the no.7 of Martin Gotz, Charlie Fisher, Joe Kelly, Wayne Johnston and the current Senior Coach Brett Ratten (1303); and at five is the No.8 of Trevor Keogh, Wayne Blackwell and Lance Whitnall (1298).

The club’s resident statistician Stephen Williamson has also determined that the numbers 2 (1271), 11 (1268) , 5 (1259), 10 (1241) and 14 (1207) round out the top ten in terms of Carlton guernsey numbers most worn.
