DAVID Parkin Medallist Sam Docherty's best-on-ground performance was reflected in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year votes for Round 3.
Taking home nine coaches' votes after his outstanding individual showing, Docherty was crucial in holding up the backline under relentless Hawthorn pressure.
Docherty recorded nine intercepts among his game-high 33 disposals, in a game where the defensive half was under siege: he also took 13 marks.
Alongside Docherty, Jacob Weitering also recorded five votes, using his marking and spoiling prowess to thwart the Hawthorn forwards.
Stationed against the dangerous Jack Gunston, Weitering recorded eight intercepts and 14 disposals, including a game-saving mark in the dying minutes of the game, ensuring the four points were coming to IKON Park.
Also polling five votes was skipper Patrick Cripps, taking a five-vote lead in the award in the process, having now recorded 25 votes in three games.
Cripps was influential in the Blues' blistering start and just as crucial in his team steadying the ship, amassing 11 tackles and 12 contested possessions.
Kicking a goal early in the game, Cripps continued his scoring run and - on the back of two perfect performances in the opening rounds - now leads Melbourne's Christian Petracca and Fremantle's Andrew Brayshaw.
