AFL SENIOR Coach Michael Voss has provided an insight on what his Thursday night will look like from home.
It was announced last Friday that Voss had entered AFL Health and Safety Protocols, meaning he would be unable to attend tonight’s Round 2 clash with the Western Bulldogs from Marvel Stadium.
Ash Hansen will be in the senior coaching chair tonight, with Voss tuning into what he described as the “deluxe” viewing experience from home.
And while Voss will have some input where it suits, he mentioned - when speaking to Channel 9’s Footy Classified - the importance of empowering the coaching staff who will be at the ground on Thursday night.
Saying that they would have “the feel of the game”, Voss detailed the specifics of his role tonight.
“I’ve got the deluxe version of watching football on Thursday night,” Voss said.
“I’ll have four camera angles, the live codes and stats coming through, and I’ll gave a feed into the coaches’ box.
“I think also that while it’s all going on - and it’s great that they’ve been able to provide that - we’re quite clear that the leadership and decision-making sits in the coaches’ box. It doesn’t sit where I am.
“I’m very lucky that we’ve got a group of coaches that have all had coaching experience and coached their own teams. They’ve got experience sitting in and leading a coaches’ box — it’s important to be able to trust them.
Okayyyyyy let's go.

“I won’t speak directly to Ash. I’ll be speaking to Aaron Greaves [Coaching and Innovation Manager].
“I’ll be chatting to him when I need to, but as I said, it’s very important that the coaches make the decisions: they have the feel of the game.
“If I need to have input, I will. But largely, it’s over to them to get the job done.”
