SIX Game Changers have polled votes for the AFL Coaches’ Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year award in Round 7.
In a 46-point victory over the Saints, it was Mua Laloifi’s work who impressed the coaches the most, polling nine votes for her defensive performance.
It seemed like Laloifi was everywhere on Saturday, collecting 14 disposals and proving to be a key contributor as the Blues kept their opposition goalless for the first time.
Laloifi now sits second in the league for most intercept possessions, having collected 47 so far in the 2022 season.
It was no surprise to see Georgia Gee in the votes, receiving eight for her outstanding showing in the wing.
Gee covered the whole ground in her 20-disposal game (an equal-team high) using her speed and 80 per cent disposal efficiency to get the Blues’ offence going.
Gee also had five score involvements and eight contested possessions, never letting the ball or her opponent far out of her sight.
Following Gee’s votes was her Velcro counterpart: Maddy Prespakis (four votes).
Prespakis also recorded 20 disposals, but it was work forward of centre - spending more time across half forward - that provided the Blues with increased avenues to goal.
Mimi Hill received four votes, with the NAB AFLW Rising Star nominee playing - and recording votes in - her third consistent game in a row.
Gathering 18 disposals and nine contested possessions, Hill’s class once again stood out, proving to be too slippery for the opposition to stop.
Breann Moody and Darcy Vescio each received one vote, with the reigning All Australians putting in a solid effort at IKON Park.
Both slotted two goals in the game, with Moody dominating in the ruck while Vescio was the most dangerous and damaging forward on the ground.
