FORGOTTEN Carlton big man Cameron Cloke believes he's still got something to offer the senior side should he gain a call up before September action begins.

Cloke, 24, has not played for Carlton since round seven after he was sent back to David Teague at the Northern Bullants to find some form.

The ruckman/forward said strong performances in recent VFL matches had given him confidence he could still compete in the seniors after a low period earlier this year.

"I think I do [have something to offer]. If that's this week or next week or the first week of the finals," he said on Tuesday.

"I'll just be working hard and trying to put my name up there and try and push for the senior spot."

Cloke has kicked 15 goals in the Bullants' last four games, including six against the Bendigo Bombers on Saturday at Windy Hill.

He said the Bullants structure had led to him holding down a more regular position in the forward line than the rotating role he was used to.

However, he believed the opportunity to kick some goals and hone his skills in attack had improved him as a player.

"Teaguey has been great in giving me the opportunity to get back into some form up forward, so everything has been going well," he said.

"At the moment down in the VFL, with Sammy Jacobs and Robbie Warnock back, it's been giving me the opportunity to play permanently as a forward and get a bit more game time as well.

"It's been really good. With the way the team changes around, you can't really be a one-position player, so it's been really good to get up forward and kick some goals and get some good form.

"I know I can always go into the ruck if I need to, so it's always good to have that string to your bow."

He says he will need to continue to be versatile if he is to push for senior selection.

"You really can't be a one-position player these days, unless you're Brendan Fevola and a freak at it," he said.

Cloke says he knows why he was dropped all those weeks ago, and why he has been kept in the Bullants side for the past eight games.

However he sees his omission from the seniors as a blessing in disguise, and believes he is better for the lengthy stint in the seconds.

"It gave me the opportunity to go back and get some form, and get back into confident footy," Cloke said.

"It wasn't really a bad thing. It's been good for my footy.

"The last few weeks have been good, and I've had the opportunity to play a bit more game time, which I want for my fitness.

"I'm doing everything right at the moment."
