SINCE Jess Dal Pos returned to Melbourne, a dynasty has been running through IKON Park.
The dynasty of the Darebin Falcons.
The club located in the northern suburbs was the starting point for the careers of Darcy Vescio, Elise O’Dea and Jess Dal Pos, with the three leaving a lasting impression on the club and women’s footy as a whole.
With over a dozen premierships between the trio, Darebin was the strongest female football club in Melbourne for a decade.
Prior to this era, Darebin was the leader in a women-run club, breeding a feminist culture that still exists to this day.
Carlton Media took the opportunity to sit down with the trio and discuss their beginnings in a new series: Origins.
This first episode highlights how each of the players found themselves playing at Darebin and what the culture meant to them.
Patty Kinnersly, a former Darebin player, President and committee member, also speaks on her time at the Falcons and how it paved the way for AFLW.
