Carlton will be bolstered by the return of key players when the Blues take on the Crows at the MCG on Saturday.

Blues fans will also be pleased to know the Crows have a terrible record against Carlton at the MCG with their only win in Round 6, 2008.

No matter where these two sides play, Carlton has matched up well against Adelaide having won four out of their last five encounters since 2010 – a stat the Crows are well aware of.

“Carlton have got us four out of the last five games…so we’ll come out firing and ready for a tough contest,” Crows defender Kyle Cheney said.

The last time the two sides met was Round 10, 2014 and the Blues narrowly defeated Adelaide by five points. Accuracy cost the Crows that day with the Blues winning 12.9 (81) to 10.16 (76).

In that match defender Kade Simpson notched up 37 touches, while for Adelaide Eddie Betts loved playing against his old side and kicked four goals.

Carlton has regained three huge names for the match, with captain Marc Murphy, dual Brownlow medallist Chris Judd and Matthew Kreuzer all returning to the side.

Kreuzer hasn’t played a senior game since injuring his foot in Round 1, 2014 and the coach is delighted to have him back out on the park.

“Kreuzer is an outstanding inclusion and a wonderful Carlton person,” Carlton coach John Barker said on Friday morning.

“His determination and work ethic sets a great example so there’s no doubt it’s great to have him back out there.”

The Crows will also be bolstered by the return of some key players with midfielder Rory Sloane and All-Australian Brodie Smith back in the side after both missing the last two weeks through injury.

Crows forward Eddie Betts admitted it had been hard lining up against his old club last year, but says he’s ready to take on his “brothers” this Saturday.

“It’s funny playing the Blues … because I grew up with those boys. I was at Carlton for nine years and am a Life Member of the club. They’re like brothers to me, so it’s playing against your brothers,” Betts told 3AW on Monday night.

“But you always want to go out and beat your brothers too, so it’s going to be a great match.”

The game is also being played in support of The Jodi Lee Foundation, an organisation that raises awareness around early bowel cancer detection.
