Carlton’s AFLW rookies Maddison Gay and Kerryn Harrington have been rewarded for their impressive development, both being elevated to the Club’s primary list ahead of the 2018 season.

Maddison Gay arrived at Ikon Park from the St Kilda Sharks after pulling on the footy boots for the first time in 2017. The outside midfielder had an outstanding season with St Kilda Sharks, highlighted by a four-goal haul in their 22-point victory over Melbourne Uni.

Kerryn Harrington is a code-hopper who excelled as a basketballer, spending the majority of her sporting career as a point guard for Bendigo Spirit in the Women’s National Basketball League. The 25-year-old is set to boost Carlton’s midfield stocks after she was introduced to football in 2017 as a midfielder for Bendigo Thunder.

"Both Maddison and Kerryn have performed to a level in the VFLW that have earnt them a spot on the primary list," AFLW senior coach Damien Keeping said.

"We’re really excited to have them elevated off the rookie list and we’re excited to see what they can achieve throughout the upcoming AFLW season.”

The Blues will now have three selections in the upcoming AFLW Rookie Draft.
