THE Carlton Football Club is thrilled to announce the re-signing of Stefan Radovanovic to its VFL side for 2022.
After an outstanding season in 2021 that saw Radovanovic claim the best young player for the Carlton Reserves, he will be looking to carry over his strong form and elevate his game even further at IKON Park next season.
The 21-year-old was a revelation across half back for the Blues in 2021 which saw him finish fourth in the best and fairest for his consistency in defence.
Despite the interrupted season, Radovanovic was one of the Reserves’ most consistent performers, proving to be a rock down back while also generating no shortage of offence off the half-back line.
After averaging 14 disposals and just under six marks a game, what showed to be Radovanovic’s strength all season was his strong intercept-marking ability, something coach Daniel O’Keefe cannot wait to see back in Navy Blue next season.
“Throughout the season, 'Stef' proved to be one of our most reliable defenders, but his ability to read the play and leave his direct opponent in order to take intercept marks is what really stood out,” O’Keefe said.
“As someone who has also spent a bit of time in the midfield as a junior, each week it was evident that 'Stef' was such a reliable presence for us in defence by getting his job done.
“He proved to be a real standout for us on both defence and offence, he’s someone we’re really excited to see continue to develop in our program going forward.”
