CARLTON young gun Sam Walsh has earned his place in the Club’s history books, recording the equal-most votes of any Blue on Brownlow Medal night.
Heading into the night as one of the favourites, Walsh ended the night in fourth position on 30 votes: six behind eventual winner, Port Adelaide’s Ollie Wines.
Joined by Marcus Bontempelli (33) and Clayton Oliver (31), Walsh was part of the first-ever quartet to all poll 30 votes or more.
Making Carlton history.

With 30 votes, Sam Walsh joins Greg Williams and Chris Judd for the most votes recorded by a Blue in a single season.
In 1994 and 2010 respectively, those two greats won it.

In doing so, Walsh equalled the tally set by Carlton greats Greg Williams and Chris Judd when they won their respective medals in 1994 and 2010 respectively.
Walsh recorded eight best-on-ground performances for the season, with his purple patch in the final eight weeks of the season ensuring he was in with a chance in the season’s final rounds.
With simply stunning first, second and third seasons, the former Geelong Falcons product has continued to elevate his standing across the League.
Since arriving at IKON Park with the Club’s No.1 pick at the 2018 NAB AFL Draft, the humble Blue has enjoyed accolade after accolade, beginning as Carlton’s first NAB AFL Rising Star winner in 2019 and most recently earning his place among the game’s elite with maiden All-Australian selection last month.
A prolific ball winner week in, week out, Walsh averaged just shy of 30 disposals per game this season, finishing the year among the top 10 in the League for disposals, while ranking elite for uncontested possessions, score involvements and pressure acts.
