WITH THE independent football review findings delivered at IKON Park, Carlton President Luke Sayers said attention would turn to “the next step” of the process.

The Blues announced on Thursday that it had parted ways with Senior Coach David Teague, as Sayers and CEO Cain Liddle fronted a half-hour media conference that afternoon.

Responding to a range of questions, Sayers said the decisions to be made from here on in would make ones where Carlton would “aggressive pursue” all opportunities.

“As difficult as these decisions are to make, they were based on in-depth information gathered from key stakeholders across the football department. In addition to these decisions, our club must now begin to address the key areas of improvement,” Sayers said.

“We are here today because our No.1 priority is to improve our on-field performance. It is what our members expect and it is our responsibility to do everything we can to deliver on that.

“We’ll be leaving no stone unturned. We want to find a coach that we believe can get the best out of what we think is a terrific group of young men, but their potential is not yet fulfilled.”

Sayers said the end-game goal was simple: to get the Carlton Football Club back to a position where it belongs.

He maintained that the Club would be unrelenting in its quest for success.

“The Carlton Football Club is pursuing winning game, getting ourselves into finals and winning premierships,” he said.

“We will be uncompromising in regards to pushing and prodding all of us - including myself, the Board, management, the football department, the entire organisation - to change gears now and lift to a higher performance standard and a higher performance culture.

“We’re looking for a coach and looking for leaders here at Carlton that will leave no stone unturned in going after absolutely everything to win games of footy.”
