HE IS the Levi that started it all.
And when we say ‘all’, we obviously mean the double cobra celebration.
It was six years ago when Levi Denton marked his namesake in the No.41’s goal at Marvel Stadium, and started a reputation which still follows Casboult to this day ahead of his final game in the Navy Blue.
We’ve all seen the footage. Casboult marks, Casboult goals, Denton marks, Denton goes “double cobra style”.
Now 17 years of age, it was poignant to look back on that night in 2015 as Casboult’s Carlton career comes to a close.
“I was at the back of level two and Levi marked it in the goal square and I thought, ‘I’m on here, I could mark this’. I’ve marked it and celebrated a fair bit and done the double cobra,” Denton told Carlton Media.
“I don’t know where that came from, I’ve never done it in my life. It just happened.
“The following week, the Club contacted my mum and dad and asked if there was any chance to come down to the Club.”
It was at that moment when Levi met Levi, and Denton showed Casboult the exact technique.
When Casboult presented Denton with the very football he marked (which he still has to do this day), there came a request: could the double cobra make it to the MCG?
The call was answered almost immediately in the clash with Collingwood that weekend. Six years later, the original double cobra celebration made a secondary appearance in Round 5 against Port Adelaide earlier this season.
“I had a kick to kick with Levi and then I asked him to do the double cobra the next week. He kicked the first goal of the game, which was great so I didn’t have to wait long, and he did it,” Denton said.
“I was very surprised that after six years that it’s still going around. I thought it would die after a couple of days.”
In the social media age, there’s seldom a Levi Casboult highlight which isn’t met with a couple of cobra emojis — if it’s not one of a steak in honour of ‘Big Meat’.
But with Casboult signing off this weekend, Denton - who still wears the No.41 - has one final request.
“Obviously he’s had a great career with 153 games. He’s known for his massive pack marks that he would take and his big kicks outside 50,” he said.
“I’d love to ask Levi if he could do it again that’d be sensational, to do the double cobra again.
“Let’s hope he kicks a bag.”
He described himself as "the kid from the boat cruise" who, he laughs, is "not the purest of goalkickers".

When the siren rings on Saturday, however, Levi Casboult will go down as someone who got everything out of himself for the Club he's always loved.
Well done, Big Meat. ??
