Coming into the AFL side in Round 9 after recovering from a foot injury, Cottrell didn’t miss a game thereafter,
Playing as a high-half forward, he used his running capacity to challenge opposition defenders from an offensive and defensive perspective.
Kicking two goals and gathering 17 disposals in the elimination final against Sydney solidified Cottrell’s status as an integral player in the Carlton lineup and furthered his ‘cult-hero’ status among fans.
Following an impressive campaign, Cottrell was rewarded for his efforts by being elevated to Carlton’s senior list for the 2024 season.
