AFLW clubs: Collingwood, Carlton
Carlton debut: Round 1, 2017
Recruited from: Collingwood (VIC)
When Carlton recruited Nicola Stevens from the old enemy after season one, they brought in an All-Australian defender. Now, what they have is a gun forward. After a few seasons in the role, Stevens exploded into action in 2021, becoming a trusty outlet for the Blues in a devastating forward mix on their day. Finishing second in the Club’s best-and-fairest award behind only Darcy Vescio, Stevens’ mix of strength in the air and class by foot is a nightmare for opposition defenders. However, her standout efforts on the field are only eclipsed by the work she does off it: an ambassador for Dementia Australia, Stevens was nominated for the 2021 Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award for her amazing work away from the ground.
Draft history: 2016 first-round selection for Collingwood, No. 6 overall.
