The Blues brought in the experience of Phoebe McWilliams leading into season seven, with the former Giant and Cat providing exactly that in the opening month of the season.
Supporting Darcy Vescio as well as first-year Blue Mia Austin, McWilliams - who twice won GWS’ goalkicking as well as for Geelong in season six - provided a key marking presence, before kicking her first goal for her new club against Fremantle.
However, a stress fracture in her foot meant McWilliams was unable to play any further part in the season: now, with a 50-game milestone just around the corner, the inaugural AFLW recruit will have a big part to play in Carlton’s attacking threat in 2023.
