CARLTON has today secured Amelia Barden and pick No.14 in a three-way trade with the Collingwood and Melbourne.
Maddison Gay will depart Ikon Park after one season, with the 21-year-old heading to Melbourne ahead of the third AFLW season.
The Blues secured pick Nos. 14 and 21 (from the Victorian draft) from Melbourne for the midfielder, and then on-traded pick No.21 to Collingwood to secure the services of Barden.

The 25-year-old is a strong-bodied inside midfielder, who led VFLW club Diamond Creek in defensive acts in 2016. One of Collingwood’s best players in 2017, Head of Football Andrew McKay said Barden would be a welcome addition to the Blues’ line-up.
“We are pleased to have strengthened our list with the recruitment of Amelia, who had a really strong season with the Pies this year. She will add to our midfield brigade with her aggressive running and tackling and ability to cover the ground,” McKay said.
“We thank Maddison for her contribution to the AFLW program since arriving as a rookie in May 2017. With a background in netball, Maddison quickly adapted to Aussie Rules and we wish her well in her journey at Melbourne.”

The Club also wishes to thank Madeline Keryk, Laura Attard, Kate Shierlaw and Sarah Last for their contributions to the AFLW program, having been delisted from the primary list today.
Carlton now currently holds picks Nos. 3, 16, 21, 27, 38, 40, 48 and 49 in this year’s NAB AFL Women’s National Draft, the equivalent of Victorian picks Nos. 3, 12, 14, 19, 26, 27, 32, 33.
