Young defender Caleb Marchbank is set for a stint on the sidelines, after scans this week confirmed a hairline fracture of his right shoulder.
Head of Football Andrew McKay said the 20-year-old's shoulder injury occurred in a marking contest during the Blues’ clash against Adelaide last weekend.
“Recent scans have revealed a hairline fracture of his scapula, meaning Caleb is expected to miss the next three to four weeks of football,” McKay said.
“The good news is it is stable, so he won’t require surgery. While it is disappointing for both us and Caleb, we are confident we will welcome him back to the field well and truly before the end of the season.”
Since arriving at the Blues at the end of 2016, Marchbank has had a breakout season, playing all 14 games and earning a Rising Star nomination in Round 6.
