Carlton midfielder Andrew Carrazzo will miss Sunday's clash against Melbourne at the MCG with a corked calf.
Carrazzo was withdrawn from the Blues' squad on Saturday morning, with mature-age recruit Jaryd Cachia set to make his debut in Carrazzo's place.
Jeremy Laidler has now been shifted in to the emergency players, alongside Sam Rowe and Tom Bell.
Blues forward Jarrad Waite will make his long-awaited return from injury after a hit-out in the VFL last week, while the Blues have recalled solid midfielder David Ellard.
Melbourne will be without Mitch Clark (foot), Jack Watts (hamstring) and Mark Jamar (groin) against the Blues.
But young Demon Dean Kent will make his debut, and the club has recalled Jack Viney, James Strauss, Lynden Dunn, Daniel Nicholson and Jake Spencer.
